Austria reimposed a nationwide lockdown on Friday to restrain the spread of novel coronavirus in the country. It became the first country in the European Union to take such a strict measure, Euronews reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Covid-19 cases in Austria surged in recent weeks and reached over 15,000 on Thursday. As per the latest reports, the incidence rate was 990.7 cases per 100,000 people in the past week. For those who don’t know, earlier this month, the World Health Organisation (WHO) had warned that coronavirus cases will continue to increase in Central Asia and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile in India, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday held a review meeting to check the progress of the coronavirus vaccination drive in Nagaland, Meghalaya, Puducherry, and Manipur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nation has witnessed a drop in its daily Covid-19 cases on Monday. India has reported 8,488 new infections in 24 hours which is the lowest count in 538 days. As per reports, 249 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The daily rise in new coronavirus cases has been less than 20,000 for 45 straight days, and less than 50,000 for 148 consecutive days now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
