{"id":22420,"date":"2017-07-22T18:02:13","date_gmt":"2017-07-22T12:32:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=22420"},"modified":"2017-07-22T18:02:21","modified_gmt":"2017-07-22T12:32:21","slug":"igl-starts-pilot-project-run-diesel-generators-gas-residential-complexes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/igl-starts-pilot-project-run-diesel-generators-gas-residential-complexes\/","title":{"rendered":"IGL starts Pilot Project to run diesel generators on gas in residential complexes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<em>Around 20% reduction in operational cost expected along with environmental benefits<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Aiming to address the pollution levels in the region, a pilot project to run the existing diesel-based generators installed in residential complexes on a mix of PNG and Diesel as fuel for Power back up was started in Noida today by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the company said in a statement on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from environmental benefits, this initiative is expected to reduce operational cost of running power back up gensets by around 20% if run on full capacity.<\/p>\n<p>IGL is the supplier of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.<\/p>\n<p>V Nagarajan, Director (Commercial), IGL inaugurated the supply of PNG as a fuel to dual injection Gensets at Victory Crossroads Residential Complex located in Sector 143-B, Noida today morning in the presence of Dr BB Awasthi, Regional Officer,\u00a0Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), SK Bansal, Director, Victory Projects\u00a0 &amp; senior officials of IGL and M\/s Control Infotech.<\/p>\n<p>The installation of dual fuel kit in the already installed diesel generator has been undertaken by M\/s Control Infotech, in close co-ordination with IGL.<\/p>\n<p>While running at full capacity, the usage of PNG and diesel is expected to be in the ratio of 70:30. However, due to limited occupancy levels in the residential complex at present, the usage of both PNG and Diesel is expected to be equal. It is estimated that using the PNG along with the diesel for power back would result in savings of around 20% in operational running cost in comparison to diesel at its current price. The payback period on Capital Investment is estimated to be around 8 months.<\/p>\n<p>The performance of dual fuel run generators would be closely monitored in terms of efficiency, performance, etc. during the pilot phase by all the stakeholders and the learning from this project would be used to develop the road map for introduction of dual fuel run generators in apartment complexes across the region.<\/p>\n<p>In line with its vision to be clean energy solutions provider to the society, IGL has also started the process of approaching other residential apartment complexes across Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad to convert their Power Back up arrangements to enable them to run on gas. PNG being an eco-friendly fuel, this green initiative of using a mix of PNG and Diesel in power back will go a long way in contributing towards curtailing air pollution levels in the interest of the public at large.<\/p>\n<p>The role of IGL in checking the vehicular pollution in the National Capital Region is well acknowledged both at national as well as international forums. IGL has well laid out its city gas distribution infrastructure in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad which consists of over 10000 km of pipeline network. IGL is meeting fuel requirements of over 9.5 lakh vehicles running on CNG in NCR through a network of 425 CNG stations.
