Delhi schools are reopening today for physical classes on December 18, 2021, after being closed earlier this month because of rising air pollution in the city. The Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas has permitted a phased resumption of physical teaching-learning activities when they find an improvement in air quality in the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Classes from 6 and above are opening in the schools as per the notification. Although, other educational institutions have been also allowed to reopen in the first phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Delhi commission, from December 18, 2021, onwards all government, government-aided, and unaided recognized schools, as well as MCDs, NDMC, and Delhi Cantonment Board schools will resume for class 6 and above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, for classes up to the 5th standard, state governments of GNCTD and NCR will take the decision for opening the schools and resuming the physical classes after taking into account the IAQII Air Quality Index and the winter vacation schedule on December 27, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite major improvements, Delhi’s air quality remains in the very bad category, according to statistics from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All government and private schools from Class 6 onwards, in the national capital, colleges, educational institutions, skill development, and training institutes, other training institutes, and libraries are allowed to resume physical teaching-learning activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also emphasized in the arguments that online programmes are not accessible to all students for a variety of reasons due to internet connectivity issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
