{"id":23520,"date":"2017-08-08T14:28:42","date_gmt":"2017-08-08T08:58:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=23520"},"modified":"2017-08-08T14:53:30","modified_gmt":"2017-08-08T09:23:30","slug":"jamaat-ud-dawa-launch-political-party-in-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/world-news\/jamaat-ud-dawa-launch-political-party-in-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"Hafiz Saeed\u2019s Jamaat-ud-Dawa launches political party in Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<strong>India says it\u2019s ironic that a person who has traded in bullets is wanting to hide behind ballot<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attack formally entered Pakistan politics with the launch of new party \u2013 Milli Muslim League (MML) on Monday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Although Saeed has no official role in the new party, his organization Jamat-ud-Dawah (JuD) will act as ideological parent of MML and Saeed\u2019s close aid Saifullah Khalid has been appointed as its president. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interestingly, JuD\u2019s second-in-command Abdul Rehman Makki has also been kept out of MML\u2019s command and control system. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;We have decided to make a new political party, so that <a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/pakistan\"><strong>Pakistan<\/strong><\/a> is to be made a real Islamic and welfare state,&#8221; Saifullah Khalid said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Khalid said that they had already approached the Election Commission of Pakistan for registration so that it can participate in the 2018 general elections. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Saeed, who is also the founder of terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), missed the launch event as he is under house arrest in Lahore since January 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The United States has offered $10 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Saeed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">India, US and several western countries recognize JuD and LeT as terror outfits and Hafiz Saeed as a terrorist. LeT is accused in several terror attacks in India including the 26\/11 Mumbai attack. The terror outfit is also accused of fomenting violence in Jammu and Kashmir. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The United States designated LeT as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) in December 2001. &#8220;Shortly after LeT was designated as an FTO, Saeed changed its name to Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) and began humanitarian projects to circumvent restriction. LeT disseminates its message through JUD&#8217;s media outlets,&#8221; according to information posted on the US State Department website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Notably, separatist leaders in <a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/kashmir\"><strong>Kashmir<\/strong><\/a> are under scanner for allegedly accepting funds from Pakistani sympathisers, including Hafiz Saeed for fomenting violence in the valley. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The MML has said it would raise the Kashmir issue with full force at both provincial and federal levels. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The party said that it will also raise its voice against the increasing liberal and secular culture being promoted in the country while demanding immediate release of <a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/hafiz-saeed\"><strong>Hafiz Saeed<\/strong><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">India accused Saeed of attempting to hide behind ballots. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Gopal Bagley said, \u201cIt is both ironical and disconcerting to notice that such an individual is perhaps wanting to hide his blood-stained hands behind the ballot ink or the person who has traded in bullets to take human lives is trying to hide behind ballots.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Notably, Saeed has often denounced democracy and the electoral process, saying it is not compatible with Islam. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]India says it\u2019s ironic that a person who has traded in bullets is wanting to hide behind ballot Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attack formally entered Pakistan politics with the launch of new party \u2013 Milli Muslim League (MML) on Monday.
