Singh was born in Rajasthan\u2019s Modia on August 15, 1967 and has no siblings. He took over as the head of the Dera in 1990.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from being a godman guru, Ram Rahim is also a singer, actor and entrepreneur. His twitter account describes him as \u201cSpiritual Saint\/Philanthropist\/Versatile Singer\/Allrounder Sportsperson\/Film Director\/Actor\/Art Director\/Music Director\/ Writer\/Lyricist\/Autobiographer\/DOP.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He has been accorded VVIP status by government of India and hence Z-level security has been provided to him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ram Rahim has received an honorary doctorate degree from the UK-based World Records University. “Ram Rahim has 53 world records in various categories, out of which 17 are Guinness records, 27 are Asia Book records, 7 India<\/strong><\/a> Book records and 2 are Limca records,\u201d the university said in a statement justifying their reason to award him the doctorate degree.<\/span><\/p>\n

So far, he has written, produced, directed and acted in three movies. Of which MSG: The Messenger received several awards including the Dadasaheb Phalke Foundation Award for most popular actor, director and writer in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

A controversial guru, Ram Rahim is a dubious personality. He is facing trial in three criminal cases dealing with rape, murder and forced castration. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2002, a case of sexual exploitation was registered against him after an anonymous letter to the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, alleged that the sect had sexually exploited two \u201csadhvis\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the same year, Ram Rahim was accused in two murder cases. The victims were Sirsa based journalist Ram Chander Chatrapati and sect manager Ranjit Singh. Chatrapati had investigated and written about illegal activities going on in the Dera. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dera Sacha Sauda-<\/b><\/p>\n

The sect was established in 1948 by an ascetic named MastanaBaluchistani.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dera Sacha Sauda roughly translates to a \u2018place of truth\u2019, boasts of over 4 crore followers and around 50 ashrams across the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shah Mastana was succeeded by Shah Satnam Singh and Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh succeeded him after a controversy.<\/span><\/p>\n
