The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced that they have shut down the Mumbai headquarters after 3 staff were found positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third wave of coronavirus is not sparing anyone, and once again is spreading like wildfire across the country. Maharashtra and Delhi have become the epicentre of the Covid 19, reporting over 20,000 and 15,000 cases per day. This time the BCCI has also come into the radar of the infectious virus, at least 3 people were found positive in their RT-PCR test on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The headquarters in the premises of the Wankhede Stadium has been shut down for three days, while many staff members have isolated themselves at their homes. As per a report, the BCCI head office is situated very close to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) office, where 15 people were tested positive for the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three people who tested positive for Covid 19, are from the finance department and the cricket operations department. Sanjay Naik the former MCA secretary informed the apex council of the major outbreak of Covid 19 in the BCCI office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, on Thursday, the BCCI had also announced the postponement of the upcoming season of Ranji Trophy, Senior Women’s T20 League, and other domestic tournaments for an indefinite time. The BCCI in their statement said that the board does not want to compromise the safety of the players, support staff, match officials, and other individuals involved in the various tournaments. However, the domestic season is not cancelled yet, as the board said, it will continue to assess the situation and then will take a call on the start of tournaments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few days back, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was also tested positive for the infectious virus and was in the hospital for a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
