US surgeons have successfully implanted a heart from a genetically modified pig in a 57-year-old man, David Bennet. According to the official statements from the University of Maryland Medical School, this “historic” surgery took place on Friday. This organ transplant helped to solve the chronic shortage of organ donations.

They said that it was a major milestone in animal to human transplants as the condition of the patient was uncertain. It was deemed ineligible for a conventional heart transplant at UMMC and at other leading transplant centers. This was said by them after reviewing his medical records.

Currently, the patient’s situation is better and he is showing signs of recovery from the surgery. He is now under observation to determine how his organ will be performing after an organ transplant in his body.

A 57-year-old man David Bennet said that he will either die or will do this organ transplant. He said that he wants to live more. He knew that it was just like a shot in the dark but it was his last choice.

The patient said that once he recovered after the surgery, he is looking forward to getting out of his bed. He was bed-ridden for the last several months on a heart-lung bypass machine.
