Subhash Ghai is a renowned Indian film director, producer, as well as, screenwriter. He was born on January 24, 1945. Some of his most famous works are Hero, Pardes, Ram Lakhan and Taal, among others. The director will be turning 77 years old tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subhash Ghai was born in Nagpur. His father, by profession, was a dentist. Ghai finished his graduation in commerce from Rohtak, Haryana. Later, he graduated in Cinema from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subhash Ghai came to Bombay after graduating from FTII. Since he was not famous, he was not allowed to even enter any studio. Then, he took up reading to find the solution to his problem. He read books such as Dale Carnegie’s how to win friends and influence people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He received his first role a year after getting selected in a United Producers Filmfare talent contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ghai started his career in\u00a0Hindi cinema\u00a0as an actor with small roles in films. He appeared in films like Taqdeer and Aradhana. He also appeared in Umang and Kalicharan as the main lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subhash Ghai’s career as a director began with the film Kalicharan. Over the years, he established a name for himself. With Dilip Kumar, he directed films like Vidhaata and Karma. He also directed Saudagar, for which he won the Filmfare\u00a0Award for the Best Director. Till now, Ghai has directed over 15 films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After serving super-hits like Hero, Khalnayak and Pardes, Ghai took a break from directing and turned producer. He produced films like Aitraaz, 36 China Town, and Apna Sapna Money Money. He returned to direction after a break of three years, with Black & White and Yuvvraaj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subhash Ghai founded his own film institute, Whistling Woods International, in the year 2006. The institute, located in Mumbai, aims at training students in various courses like cinematography, production, animation, direction and acting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
