According to the official statements, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate has been postponed by six to eight weeks. It was scheduled to be held on March 12, 2022. It has been informed by the officials that the date is postponed following representations received from doctors regarding a request to delay the medical entrance test since it is clashing with the counselling date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The file petition requested an extension of the deadline of completion of the internship from May 31, 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) administers the exam for admission to postgraduate medical programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This decision was taken by Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. This is because many of the interns would not be able to participate in the PG counselling by the month of May, June 2022. Keeping the above information in mind, this decision was taken so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When did Supreme Court hear a plea?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court heard a plea today which was filed by six MBBS students. It seeks postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG) exam 2022, which was scheduled to be held on March 12, 2022. The plea was listed for hearing before the bench of justices D.Y. Chandrachud and Surya Kant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What has been said in the petition?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The plea said that there are several hundred MBBS graduates whose internships come to rest due to their Covid-19 duty. They would be rendered ineligible from appearing in the test due to a lack of mandatory internship duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petition mentioned that about 1500 candidates were in Covid duties in 2021. Therefore, their internship was postponed. They claim that they were victims of circumstance and that they were never told that participating in Covid responsibilities would make them ineligible to take the NEET-PG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
