{"id":28014,"date":"2017-09-24T14:54:37","date_gmt":"2017-09-24T09:24:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=28014"},"modified":"2017-09-24T14:57:14","modified_gmt":"2017-09-24T09:27:14","slug":"du-professor-booked-for-posting-objectionable-remarks-on-goddess-durga-in-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/du-professor-booked-for-posting-objectionable-remarks-on-goddess-durga-in-facebook\/","title":{"rendered":"DU Professor Booked For Posting \u2018Objectionable Remarks\u2019 On Goddess Durga in Facebook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<em>FIR was registered against the professor by the right-wing teacher\u2019s body NDTF <\/em><\/p>\n<p>An assistant professor of Delhi University\u2019s Dyal Singh College has evoked a great furore with his objectionable post against Hindu goddess Durga on <a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/facebook\">Facebook <\/a>on September 22 evening.<\/p>\n<p>For penning a controversial post, an FIR was registered against Kedar Kumar Mandal at Lodhi Colony police station by the members of National Democratic Teachers Front (NDTF) for allegedly insulting the Hindu goddess Durga.<\/p>\n<p>The obnoxious remark by Kedar Kumar Mandal has landed him in trouble with student organisations like <a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/abvp\">Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) <\/a>and National Student\u2019s Union of India (NSUI) demanding an immediate suspension of the professor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe demand his suspension and we request the student community to boycott his classes. Mandal has provoked sentiments during a festival time of Hindu \u2013 Navratri,\u201d ABVP&#8217;s Dayal Singh College unit said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we allowed to continue (him) as a teacher he will only spread hatred among students,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>In its complaint, the BJP-affiliated NDTF accused Mandal of \u201cmaking a mischievous attempt to hurt people\u2019s feelings\u201d. \u201cThis is a disgusting attempt at cheap publicity especially at a time when everyone is revelling in the festivities of Navratri,\u201d VS Negi, the general secretary of NDTF was quoted as saying. They further alleged that Mandal had shared the post in 21 different groups.<\/p>\n<p>Penning the derogatory remarks, he has attracted the ire of several groups and as hurt religious sentiments of people.
