The Department of Technical Education had declared that institutions in Karnataka will remain closed from February 9 till February 11. The order was extended till February 16. The Minister of Higher Education CN Ashwatha Narayana said that this is a precautionary measure. He also said that the examinations will be held as per schedule while institutions have been directed to hold online classes. This decision will be imposed on government, aided, unaided degree colleges, engineering and diploma colleges.

The Karnataka High Court had previously requested the state government to reopen educational institutions and prohibited all students from wearing saffron shawls, scarves, Hijab, or any religious flag within the classroom in an interim order pending consideration of all petitions related to the Hijab row. The government announced on Thursday that high school students up to class 10 will resume offline classes on February 14, followed by Pre-University and Degree Colleges.

DCs, SPs, and DDPIs have been instructed to maintain regular communication with administrators, instructors, educational institution administration, and parents. Action should be taken against the guilty, peace talks should be organised, and the High Court judgement should be executed exactly, stated Secondary Education Minister Araga Jnanendra. Authorities should not be intimidated by outside pressure, and even minor instances should be taken seriously. He further stated that high school lessons up to class 10 will resume across the state on Monday and that instructions have been given to ensure that no untoward incidents occur. DCs and SPs in sensitive regions must visit campuses and advise the authorities and teaching personnel to ensure that no untoward occurrences arise.
