Amid the ongoing Hijab row in Karnataka and other parts of the country, Samajwadi Party leader Rubina Khanam on Saturday said that the hands of those who try to touch their hijab would be chopped off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While speaking about the right to wear Hijab, she said that if anyone tries to play with the dignity of the daughters and sisters of India, it will not be long before they become like Jhansi ki Rani and Razia Sultana and chop off the hands of those who touch their hijabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Referring to the viral video of a girl from Karnataka college who was heckled by a group of miscreants, said that if you try to surround our daughters with thousands of people then we will tell you what we can do. We know how to safeguard our modesty. If your hands threaten our dignity, we will chop them off and protect our self-respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Samajwadi Party leader further asserted that India is a diverse society where it should not matter whether someone wears a tilak on their forehead, a turban, or a hijab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ghunghat and hijab are integral components of Indian culture and traditions, said Rubina Khanam. It’s horrible to politicize these topics and create a fuss about it. Any party may run the government, but no one should underestimate women, she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India is a multi-religious country where people of all religions live. Everyone has the right to live according to their religion under our laws. It has given us the freedom to live according to our religious beliefs and to wear whatever we like. This liberty was given to us by Dr BR Ambedkar. So, what’s the big deal about not wearing the hijab in schools and colleges these days? Should we come bareheaded? she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few weeks ago, a controversy erupted after a few female students wearing hijabs were denied entry to a government pre-university college in Udupi, Karnataka.
