[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Earlier in the day, Haryana police had suffered a major embarrassment when the 36-year-old was seen giving interviews to various media channels.<\/em><\/p>\n

After being eluded for more than a month, the Haryana police finally arrested Honeypreet Insan, the \u201cadopted daughter\u201d of self-declared guru and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim <\/a>from a highway near Chandigarh on Tuesday, after TV channels aired her interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have arrested her (Honeypreet) and shall be producing her in the court tomorrow,\u201d AS Chawla, Police Commissioner, Panchkula said.<\/p>\n

Chawla also said that another woman who was accompanying her was also taken into custody.<\/p>\n

Explaining the manner of arrest, Chawla said, \u201cOur ACP Mukesh who is heading a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe this case, received a specific input that Honeypreet was travelling on that road. Thus, we rounded up both the women\u201d.<\/p>\n

Honeypreet is charged with sedition and trying to help Ram Rahim escape after he was judged guilty of raping two of his followers. She is also accused of inciting the rioting by mobs of Dera supporters on August 25 in which thirty-eight people were killed.<\/p>\n

She had gone missing after accompanying Ram Rahim to a Rohtak jail on August 25. Haryana Police had issued a look out notice for her along with several other Dera functionaries a few days later but she had remained at large until Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, The Haryana police had suffered a major embarrassment when the 36-year-old was seen giving interviews to various media channels.<\/p>\n

Speaking to a TV channel Honeypreet <\/a>refuted all allegations against her while maintaining that her father Ram Rahim was innocent. “Have you heard me saying a word where I instigate people? I had gone there (to CBI court in Panchkula) with a hope that my father will return by evening, but when he was held guilty, I went into depression, How could I think about anything else? I was totally devastated,” she said.<\/p>\n

On her ex-husband Vishwas Gupta\u2019s allegations that her father-daughter relationship with Ram Rahim is fake, Honeypreet said: “I cannot understand how anyone can point fingers at pious relations that are there between a father and his daughter. What proof do they have? Please don’t believe such people.”<\/p>\n

On September 26, the Delhi High Court <\/a>had dismissed her anticipatory bail plea based on the ground that she had been evading arrest and hence was not entitled to any discretionary relief.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
