With the tournament seen as a breakthrough for football in India, the Indian football association has been working round the clock to ensure that all venues and facilities are up to international standards, to make the tournament a success and launch India onto the international football arena.<\/p>\n<p>With 52 matches scheduled to be played during the tournament, the participating 24 teams have been divided in six groups, with four teams in each group.<\/p>\n<p>Participating in their first-ever football World Cup in any format of the game,<a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/india\"> India <\/a>have a chance to prove their credentials not only as a footballing nation but also as World Cup hosts. India earned direct qualification for the tournament being the host nation. They will begin proceedings on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_318482625\"><span class=\"aQJ\">October 6<\/span><\/span>, in their first face off against USA at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_318482626\"><span class=\"aQJ\">8 pm<\/span><\/span>. Colombia and Ghana will kick off the tournament at the same venue at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_318482627\"><span class=\"aQJ\">5 pm<\/span><\/span> which will be preceded by the opening ceremony for which a host of celebrities have been roped in to ensure a glamorous start.<\/p>\n<p>However, having placed in a tough group along with formidable teams such as USA, Columbia and two-time champions Ghana, India start the tournament as under dogs with experts believing that they won\u2019t even make it up to the last 16.<\/p>\n<p>And as we draw closer to the country\u2019s biggest football event till date, here\u2019s a look at the details of the tournament.<\/p>\n<p><b>Opening date and Time<\/b><\/p>\n<p>With two matches schedule at the same time, the Fifa U-17 World Cup begins at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_318482628\"><span class=\"aQJ\">5 pm (IST)<\/span><\/span> on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_318482629\"><span class=\"aQJ\">October 6<\/span><\/span>. The first two games to be played after the opening ceremony in Delhi, will be between Columbia and Ghana (Group A) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and between New Zealand and Turkey (Group B) at the DY Palit Stadium in Mumbai.<\/p>\n<p><b>Broadcasting channels<\/b><\/p>\n<p>With the Sony Pictures Network holding the broadcasting rights for the U-17 World Cup, the tournament will be aired on Sony Ten 2, Sony Ten 2 HD, Sony ESNP, Sony ESPN HD with English commentary and Sony Ten 3 and Sony Ten 3 HD with Hindi and Bengali commentary.
