{"id":302704,"date":"2022-03-26T18:15:04","date_gmt":"2022-03-26T12:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=302704"},"modified":"2022-03-26T18:16:10","modified_gmt":"2022-03-26T12:46:10","slug":"birbhum-killings-cbi-investigating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/politics\/birbhum-killings-cbi-investigating\/","title":{"rendered":"Birbhum killings: CBI names 21 people in FIR, report says houses set on fire to kill people inside"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the investigation that is going on in the West Bengal&#8217;s Birbhum killings, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed an FIR earlier, in which they have now named 21 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FIR also mentioned that the fire was intentionally set to the houses with a view to kill the people inside. It was also mentioned that preliminary enquiry reveals that the violence was meted out in retaliation to avenge the murder of Bhadu Sheikh, who was the TMC leader and was also the pradhan of the local panchayat. He was attacked with bombs by unknown people, a day before the killings took place in Birbhum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Calcutta High Court ordered CBI to take over the investigation. The CBI also visited the Rampurhat police station and they took numerous papers and documents and connected to the case ad travelled to the scene of the violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happened in Birbhum?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Birbhum, a number of houses were set ablaze in Rampurhat village in Bengal&#8217;s Birbhum district on Tuesday in which around eight people were killed, including two children. It is also reported that the other six were women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As this incident took place, there is a debate going on between BJP and TMC over the killings. Recently, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also visited the site on Thursday and criticised the police for arriving late while ordering the arrest of a local TMC leader involved in the violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also announced that compensation will be given to victims&#8217; families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other news, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/delhi-hate-speech-case-asaduddin-owaisi\/\">Delhi High Court on Wednesday while hearing a plea to initiate criminal proceedings against Union Minister Anurag Thakur for hate speech said that if you\u2019re saying something with a smile, then there is no criminality and if you\u2019re saying something offensive, then definitely.
