Rajasthan Police imposed a curfew in the Karauli district on Sunday after communal tensions broke out in the state. According to the officials, communal clashes erupted following stone-pelting during a religious parade to mark the Hindu New Year. The internet services in the district are also suspended till April 3 midnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the protest, more than thirty people were reportedly injured and one was critically injured. Officials stated the stone-pelting incident occurred during a procession when people wearing Hindu outfits were passing through a Muslim-dominated area on bikes on Nav Samvatsar, the first day of the new year under the Hindu calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hawa Singh Ghumaria, Additional Director General of Police said that Hindus were taking out a religious bike rally on the occasion of the Hindu new year on Saturday evening. While the procession reached a mosque, some miscreants pelted stones at them. This resulted in stone-pelting and arson by the other side too in which a few two-wheelers and shops were torched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
