A contractor and the BJP leader Santosh Patil, who had accused the senior BJP minister K S Eeshwarappa of taking 40% commission in a contract, on Tuesday found dead at a private lodge in Udupi. He allegedly penned a suicide note in which he claimed that Karnataka\u2019s Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Minister was directly responsible for his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his suicide note, Patil said he is going on a journey of no return and Karnataka Minister Eshwarappa is directly responsible for his death and he should be punished. He has taken this decision after suppressing all his wants and desires, his suicide note mentioned. He also wrote that he has brought some friends with him but they are not responsible for his death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his suicide note, Patil urged PM Modi, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and senior BJP leader YS Yeddyurappa to help his wife and kids after his death. He also thanked all his friends and journalists for highlighting his problems in the contractor’s suicide note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the police’s preliminary investigations into the death, the earlier rumoured missing Belagavi-based contractor has been found hanging from the ceiling in Shambhavi hotel in Udupi. The police said the death was due to the consumption of a poisonous substance, another report claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Santosh Patil, a contractor and the national secretary of Hindu Yuva Vahini, had reportedly sent out the death note to his friends via WhatsApp. Earlier, Belagavi police had initiated a search for Patil after receiving information that he had sent a message to his friends that he had decided to end his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier he had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming to have invested Rs 4 crore in building roads in his village based on the oral instructions of Karnataka RDPR Minister K.S. Eshwarappa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The contractor had arrived in Udupi along with a couple of his friends Santosh and Prashant on April 11 night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Patil was in one room while his friends were staying adjacent to his room, police said. On April 12 morning, the two friends knocked Patil\u2019s room almost for an hour but did not get any response. Then they approached to lodge staff to open the door.
After few attempts by the staff, the door had opened and they found a dead body of Patil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this case, the Superintendent of Police N. Vishnuvardhan and other officers visited the lodge. Santosh Patil\u2019s friends and other persons at the lodge were questioned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
