The whole country is divided on PM Narendra Modi<\/a>\u2019s decision of demonetisation. The government has been celebrating November 8 as \u201cAnti-Black Money Day\u201d while the opposition is observing it as a Black Day, calling it a \u201ctragedy\u201d.<\/p>\n

APN<\/em> took the lead in conducting a healthy debate on the subject on its midday show Mudda<\/em> with participants from various walks of life. The 60-minute show was anchored by Anant Tyagi while participants included Mahendra Singh, spokesperson for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Ashwini Upadhyay of BJP, Sarwat Jahan Fatima of the Congress, Aamir Haider of CPI, Ramesh Gupta of NCP, JD Aggarwal, a renowned economist, Pradeep Gupta, director of Geotech Homz Pvt Ltd (GTHPL), and Govind Pant Raju, the consulting editor of APN<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The debate was full of information and took several twists and turns while discussing the pros and cons of the landmark decision of the NDA government.<\/p>\n

The opposition parties, including Congress, CPI, AAP and NCP, criticised the government for the decision, calling it a tragic one. The BJP <\/a>defended its decision while real estate and economy experts came up with objective opinions.<\/p>\n

Fatima was quite vocal in criticising the government\u2019s move. She said that the government statistics have proved fatal in all sectors. She claimed that terrorism and Naxalism have not decreased after demonetisation.<\/p>\n

Aamir Haider, spokesperson for the Communist Party of India (CPI), said that demonetisation was an \u201cunforgivable sin\u201d. He criticised the media for not covering the opposition to the move. He said that people are opposing the government\u2019s move from the streets to the parliament. He said the whole government was in denial of this fact.<\/p>\n

Ramesh Gupta of NCP said that people faced lots of difficulties because of lack of preparation on the part of the government and its empty populism.<\/p>\n

Mahendra Singh called demonetisation t<\/a>he \u201cbiggest scam of the country\u201d. He said that there are different surveys and statistics showing that the government\u2019s move was a tragic one.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Upadhyay claimed that huge amount of money, stacked in basements, have been joined to the country\u2019s mainstream economy.<\/p>\n

Pradeep Gupta, director of Geotech Homz Private Ltd, argued that India is not mature enough for becoming a cashless economy at this stage. Demonetisation and GST might have hurt now but will generate positive long-term benefits.<\/p>\n

Aggarwal said that the problem of unemployment can\u2019t be connected with demonetisation as the whole world is passing through an economic slowdown. He said that demonetisation is a positive step taken by the government.<\/p>\n
