A row erupted over Hindi following a Twitter spat between Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgan and Kannada actor Kiccha Sudeep, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai on Thursday openly came out in support of Kannada actor saying South Indian states were formed because of languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What Kiccha Sudeep said was correct. A regional language is the most important as a state is formed on a linguistic basis, Bommai told reporters. Everyone should understand and respect what Sudeep has said, he also said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a heated Twitter exchange with Devgn, Sudeep said that Hindi is no longer a national language, owing to the success of South Indian films. Ajay Devgn hit back on Twitter, asking why the south industries dub films in Hindi then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calling himself a Kannadiga, he said it is the duty of every Indian to respect the linguistic diversity of the country. Each language has its own rich history for its people to be proud of, Siddaramaiah said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Amid the debate, a video of Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also doing rounds on the internet. In the video, the actor could be heard slamming Bollywood ignoring Hindi and holding English in high regard. The filmmakers and producers make the film in Hindi but prefer to communicate in English on the film sets, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Targetting the writers who used roman scripts over Hindi, Nawazuddin said that films are made in Hindi but scripts are written in Roman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
