{"id":31742,"date":"2017-11-13T18:34:23","date_gmt":"2017-11-13T13:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=31742"},"modified":"2017-11-13T18:34:26","modified_gmt":"2017-11-13T13:04:26","slug":"want-policeman-9-year-old-filipino-fitted-jaipur-foot-tells-modi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/want-policeman-9-year-old-filipino-fitted-jaipur-foot-tells-modi\/","title":{"rendered":"I Want To Be A Policeman: 9-year old Filipino fitted with Jaipur Foot tells Modi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday visited the Mahaveer Philippine Foundation in Manila that has helped rehabilitate thousands of disabled people with the famed Jaipur Foot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He visited the place on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit being held there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that Modi interacted with nine-year old Carlo Migel Silvano from Bulacan province at Mahaveer Philippine Foundation in Manila.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHe (Carlo) is one of the thousands in Philippines fitted with the Indian-made &#8216;Jaipur Foot&#8217; at this Foundation,\u201d Kumar tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Modi tweeted about meeting 9-year-old Carlo Miguel Silvano from Bulacan, one of the foundation&#8217;s Jaipur Foot beneficiaries. \u201c&#8217;I want to be a policeman,&#8217; my young friend told me&#8230;Glad to see the Jaipur Foot giving wings to the aspirations of many youngsters like him,\u201d Modi said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Modi met other amputee-beneficiaries of the foundation as well. \u201cWonderful visit to the Mahaveer Philippine Foundation. Their efforts of fitting the Jaipur Foot on needy .amputees have touched several lives. During my visit, saw a series of exhibits and interacted with amputees,\u201d the PM tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mahaveer Philippine Foundation is an associate centre of the Jaipur-based Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayat Samiti (BMVSS) of the famed Jaipur Foot artificial limb. The Jaipur Foot is a rubber-based prosthetic leg designed and developed by Indian sculptor Ram Chander Sharma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BMVSS is the world&#8217;s largest organisation to rehabilitate over 1.55 million lives with the artificial limb.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Foundation in Philippines was set up by then Indian-origin Mayor of Manila Ramon Bagotsing and Executive President of BMVSS V.R.
