Rajiv Kumar has now been appointed as the next Chief Election Commissioner. A notification was issued by the Law Minister in which it was mentioned that he will assume charge on May 15 after Sushil Chandra, who is the current Chief Election Commissioner will demit office on May 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the notification, it was mentioned that the President is pleased to appoint Shri Rajiv Kumar the senior-most Election Commissioner as the Chief Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India. In the press note, it was further mentioned that Kumar will assume charge from May 15 after Sushil Chandra’s term is over on May 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Kumar was Chairman of the Public Enterprises Selection Board. Apart from this, he had also been an officer of the Indian Administrative Services of Bihar\/Jharkhand cadre 1984 batch, superannuated from the Indian Administrative Service in February 2020. He was also a member of the task force for restructuring NITI Aayog. On the basis of the report, the present structure of NITI Aayog was approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rajiv Kumar did B.SC, LL.B, PGDM and MA in Public Policy and has worked in the Government of India for over 36 years. He has worked in various ministries at the Centre and state cadres across the social sector, environment and forests, human resources, finance and the banking sector.
