{"id":32846,"date":"2017-11-28T14:29:19","date_gmt":"2017-11-28T08:59:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=32846"},"modified":"2017-11-28T14:31:09","modified_gmt":"2017-11-28T09:01:09","slug":"raje-govt-orders-sc-st-and-obc-hostels-to-play-national-anthem-to-instill-patriotism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/raje-govt-orders-sc-st-and-obc-hostels-to-play-national-anthem-to-instill-patriotism\/","title":{"rendered":"Raje govt orders SC, ST and OBC hostels to play national anthem to instill patriotism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<em>Vasundhara Raje government orders all 789 government-run hostels across Rajasthan to make students recite National Anthem at\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1851754043\">7 am<\/span>\u00a0every morning<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While the ongoing massive protests across Rajasthan by the state\u2019s farmers or the vitriolic threats being issued to Deepika Padukone by the Karni Sena for her on-reel portrayal of Rani Padmavati have failed to draw chief minister Vasundhara Raje\u2019s attention, her government has its mission clearly cut out \u2013 SC,ST and OBC students must be pumped up with patriotic fervor.<\/p>\n<p>It appears that the<a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/vasundhara-raje\"> Vasundhara Raje Scindia-led BJP government in Rajasthan <\/a>believes that over 40000 students from the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backwards classes residing in its 789 state -run hostels and 22 residential schools do not match up to their counterparts from the \u2018general\u2019 category when it comes to their level of patriotism.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure that patriotism \u2013 the trait in any individual that is most dear to the BJP \u2013 is drilled into these SC, ST and OBC category students, the Vasundhara Raje government\u2019s department of social justice and empowerment has ordered all hostels and schools under its jurisdiction to make their inmates sing the national anthem \u2013 everyday at\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1851754044\">7 am<\/span>\u00a0sharp.<\/p>\n<p>This, at least according to the notions of the Raje government, will \u201cinstill patriotism\u201d in the students at a time when Rajasthan is witnessing vitriolic protests to preserve the honour of a purportedly mythical woman \u2013 Rani Padmavati \u2013 albeit at the cost of the honour of a real-life, living woman \u2013<a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/deepika-padukone\"> Hindi cinema\u2019s Deepika Padukone<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, the Raje government which recently was under attack for a controversial legislation that sought to gag the media from writing against tainted bureaucrats till the chief minister decided that these babus could be tried for their alleged impropriety has identified its priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The order, issued by Rajasthan\u2019s department of social justice and empowerment\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1851754045\">on Monday<\/span>, said that while the national anthem is recited in all residential schools, the tradition will now have to be followed in hostels too.<\/p>\n<p>The department\u2019s principal secretary Samit Sharma was quoted by Times of India as saying: \u201cHostel inmates gather for a daily prayer in the morning. The directive on national anthem was not being followed because of staff shortage. The directive has been issued to ensure national anthem is also sung on a daily basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This, of course, isn\u2019t the first time that Rajasthan has had its brush with the BJP trying to ensure that people in the state \u2013 from students to government employees \u2013 wear their patriotic fervor on their sleeves.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Ashok Lahoti \u2013 mayor of the BJP-controlled Jaipur Municipal Corporation \u2013 had made the singing of the national anthem and national song compulsory for all government employees at\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1851754046\">9 am and 5pm<\/span>\u00a0daily. The Rajasthan Youth Board too had organised a \u2018Vande Mataram\u2019 event at Jaipur\u2019s SMS stadium on November 8 \u2013 the first anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s demonetisation decision \u2013 which was attended by over 50000 people and presided over by Vasundhara Raje as the chief guest.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, assessors and guarantors of patriotism in the other BJP-ruled state of Madhya Pradesh too have issued a diktat stating that students will need to respond with a &#8220;Jai Hind&#8221; instead of the banal and western import &#8220;Yes Sir&#8221; or &#8220;Yes Ma&#8217;am&#8221;when their name is called out during the roll-call in class.
