Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who has been vocally targeting rebellion group MLAs, on Tuesday sought more time to appear for Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe in a money laundering case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sena leader has been summoned by the ED in a case related to irregularities in a Chawl redevelopment project at Mumbai\u2019s Goregaon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is located in northern Mumbai\u2019s Goregaon and had a total of 672 houses in 47 acres of land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n An agreement had been signed between the MHADA and a private company but even after 14 years the people of the area continue to wait for their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2020, the state government had appointed a one-member committee led by former chief secretary Maharashtra to study and recommend solutions for the rehabilitation and rental payment to 672 tenants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following the recommendations of the committee and feedback from MHADA, the state cabinet had approved redevelopment of the Patra Chawl again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n On the orders of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the stalled construction work was restarted in February 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n However, the development comes amidst Shiv Sena’s battle against its rebellion MLAs to survive the rulling MVA government in Maharashtra. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Rajya Sabha member was not available on Tuesday due to his planned visit to Alibaug (Raigad district), following which his lawyer reached the ED\u2019s office today around 11.15 am to seek some more time, the officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Raut had termed the ED\u2019s summons as a conspiracy to stop him from fighting against their political opponents.
