The Lalit Narayan Mithila University of Bihar’s Darbhanga has booked three students for pasting the photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan on their admit cards.

The students used the ministers’ pictures when filling out the applications for the university’s Degree Part III exams, which are slated for September 12. The university has booked these students under the IT Act.

The students who used the photos of the ministers were BA part III students from colleges based in the Madhubani, Samastipur, and Begusarai districts, all affiliated with the Lalit Narayan Mithila University.

Surendra Pratap Singh, LNMU vice-chancellor, said the show-cause notice has been given to those students and also asked them to explain the reason behind this act. According to the reports, the students carried out this mischief to defame the university.

The university’s registrar, Mushtaq Ahmed, said the strange occurrences that have been reported on social media have been seriously noted. He further said that an FIR has been lodged against these students.

Ahmed said the investigation is underway and strict action will be taken against the students who have done this. The misuse of PM’s and governor’s photos is also a grave concern, he added. The VC said this act can’t be done at the university level.

He said a student is given three options while filling out an examination form online to make any changes to his/her admit card. Nobody else but the examinees themselves should be held accountable for these serious errors in their admit cards if they did not spot this blunder.

The vice chancellor claimed that photos of girls had been put on the admit cards of boys, and vice versa. There were some admit cards that lacked a picture. It is pretty difficult to be certain if the candidates themselves carried out these malicious activities or if some cyber fraudsters, he added.

This is not the first time such a thing has happened. A few years ago, a similar incident took place when the admit card of a student from Muzaffarpur showed the photos of Emraan Hashmi and Sunny Leone against the father and mother’s column, respectively.
