The former star all-rounder, Roger Binny, of the 1983 World Cup team, is suggested to become the successor of Saurav Ganguly as BCCI Chief. Reports initially suggested that BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, son of Amit Shah, was going to take up the responsibility, however, from the looks of it, Roger Binny is set to be named as the new BCCI president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roger Binny was an integral part of the 1983 World Cup team, who brought India\u2019s first World Cup home. According to reports, Rajiv Shukla, vice-president of BCCI is going to carry on in his role whereas the son of Home Minister, Jay Shah is also speculated to continue in his role after the end of his tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The race for the post of the presidency will open its nominations on Tuesday and Wednesday the candidates including Roger Binny will be filing their nominations for the post. The BCCI elections for the post will take place on the 18th of October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roger Binny was recently spotted at the meeting which was called on Monday by the BCCI to decide on the five office bearers for their respective posts which more or less confirms the BCCI\u2019s inclination toward Binny to be president as more likely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 67-year-old veteran cricketer is known for his 1983 World Cup performance in which he gobbled up 18 wickets in 8 matches which resulted in him becoming the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. His performance in the 1983 World Cup played a key role in the victory of India in bringing the World Cup Home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides the 1983 World Cup, the former Indian cricketer has 27 caps in the test format as well as 72 caps in ODIs from 1980 to 1987.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
