The Uttar Pradesh government will host the Khelo India National University Games in 2023-24 for the first time. The multi-sport event will be conducted in four states- Varanasi, Lucknow, Noida and Gorakhpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Around 4,500 athletes, representing 150 universities across the country will be competing against each other in 20 disciples, including judo, kabaddi, swimming, basketball, boxing, rowing, and archery amongst others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additional Chief Secretary of Sports, Navneet Sehgal said high-quality facilities will be provided to the players participating in the competition. He said the age limit for participating in Khelo India National University Games will be below 26 years. There will be a special focus on women’s games, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government will announce the appointment of 12 former athletes who have made a mark at the international level as coaches in different disciplines for the state government-run sports hostels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Khelo India University Games is a national multi-sport event held in India where athletes from universities across the country compete in different sports disciples. The Khelo India University Games are designed to identify and train talented athletes in the 18 to 25 age bracket for the Olympics and Asian Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Odisha hosted the multisport competition for the first time in 2020. The Khelo India Youth Games, which wrapped up its third edition in 2020, served as the idea for the launch of the Khelo India University Games.
