Days after Ajit Mohan quit Meta India for its rival Snap Inc, Facebook’s parent company appointed Sandhya Devanathan as the vice president of Meta India on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports said Devanathan will work on bringing the organisation’s business and revenue prioritised together to serve its partners and clients. She will also continue to support the long-term growth of Meta India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development comes during the time when Facebook is dealing with regulatory challenges in India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tightened laws governing Big Tech companies. Over the years, the company is getting criticism for not taking any stringent steps to restrain the spread of fake news and hate speeches in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is an alumnus of Delhi University Faculty of Management Studies and completed her MBA degree in 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2016, Devanathan came on board with Meta and helped to boost the Singapore and Vietnam businesses and teams as well as the e-commerce initiatives of Meta in Southeast Asia, as her LinkedIn profile mentioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Apart from her professional life, Devanathan is an advocate of women in leadership and promotes diversity in the workplace. She is also the Executive Sponsor for Women@APAC at Meta and the global lead for Play Forward, her LinkedIn profile said. For those uninitiated, Play Forward is a global Meta initiative to improve diversity representation in the gaming industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Recently, WhatsApp India head Abhijit Bose and Meta Public Policy chief Rajiv Aggarwal quit their respective positions. Aggarwal resigned to pursue another opportunity, reports said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg announced the layoff of 11,000 employees globally given the flattering revenue.
