Controversial BJP legislator from Alwar city in Rajasthan, Banwari Lal Singhal, has urged Hindu families to not allow Muslims into their homes, alleging that the religious minority, and especially its Meo Muslim community, was actively involved in cow slaughter and \u2018love jihad\u2019.<\/p>\n

Singhal\u2019s comments, made\u00a0on Sunday<\/span>\u00a0at a public function of his community in Rajasthan\u2019s Alwar district, and reiterated a day later in an interview to the Times of India, come months after the BJP suffered a humiliating defeat against the Congress party in the by-elections to the Alwar Lok Sabha seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeo Muslims do not vote for the BJP. I also do not go after them for votes. Seeking votes from them would mean that I have to help them in getting away with crimes that they habitually commit. This is the main reason that I have always maintained a safe distance from them,\u201d Singhal was quoted as saying by the Times of India.<\/p>\n

The legislator, who has strong links with the radical right-wing Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)<\/a> and has been associated with the BJP\u2019s ideological parent \u2013 the RSS \u2013 also said: \u201cLove jihad has become a tradition for Meo Muslims here (in Alwar and Bharatpur districts of Rajasthan). They create fake IDs on Facebook and lure Hindu girls into relationships. They marry Hindu girls and make their life hell. On the contrary, Muslim girls despite being illiterate or less educated do not love or marry Hindu boys.\u201d<\/p>\n

The BJP leader didn\u2019t limit his hate speech to Muslims but also slammed Hindu women for \u201cfalling in the trap\u201d of Muslim boys. \u201cEven those Hindu girls who are talented and intellectual become secular and marry Meo Muslim boys. These Hindu women are generally thrown out by their Meo Muslim husbands after two years. I appeal to Hindu families, parents and elders to not allow Muslims into their homes and check love jihad… Meo Muslims are butchers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singhal had also courted controversy in January this year when he made the outlandish claim that \u201cMuslims (in India) were giving birth to 12-14 children as part of a well planned conspiracy to have a member of their community occupy the chairs of President, Prime Minister and Chief Ministers and make Hindus secondary citizens in Hindustan… the existence of Hindus is in danger\u201d.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
