Chinta Devi, who worked as a manual scavenger, has won the elections for the post of deputy mayor in Bihar\u2019s Gaya civic polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chinta Devi has achieved a great feat by getting elected as the deputy mayor of Gaya. She has also worked as a sweeper and a vegetable seller. The people of Gaya extended their full support to Chinta Devi in the elections. After becoming the deputy mayor, she has talked about serving the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
History was written in the Gaya, Bihar, civic body elections by electing a woman, who was working as a manual scavenger for the last 40 years to such a high post in the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Gaya is accustomed to reaching such milestones. Bhagwati Devi, a woman from the severely underrepresented Musahar group and a stone crusher by trade, was chosen by Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) to represent the Gaya constituency in the Lok Sabha in 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In these elections, Ganesh Paswan won the post of mayor. After registering victory, Deputy Mayor Chinta Devi has said that she will give Gaya a new shape after fighting the government and will do such work that the whole world will take inspiration fromGaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, Sunaina Devi, daughter of former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi, who entered the fray as a candidate for the post of Mayor, has lost the election poorly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Gaya, both the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor were campaigning under the same banner. Both were successful in winning the elections. Ganesh Paswan had landed on the post of Mayor regarding the work done during the corona period and the issue of development of the city. This issue proved to be successful among citizens and he emerged victorious on the post of mayor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
