Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Monday staged a walk out from the Assembly after Chief Minister MK Stalin moved a motion urging the Governor to record only the speech prepared by the state government and not add anything or omit any sections from the formal address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Governor’s original speech, which was written by the state government and translated by the Speaker, was the only one that the Assembly agreed to record. However, the state assembly witnessed a ruckus and sloganeering after Ravi began his customary address. Soon after, RN Ravi walked out of the assembly without even waiting for the national anthem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move came after the ruling government protested that Ravi had skipped various sections of the speech prepared by the state government which had references to secularism, describing Tamil Nadu as a haven of peace, and mention of leaders like Periyar, CN Annadurai, BR Ambedkar, K Kamaraj and Karunanidhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Read Also<\/strong>: Uttar Pradesh: Locals capture rare vulture in Kanpur, handed over to forest department | WATCH<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The ruling DMK MLAs and its allies, Vidhuthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Congress started raising slogans such as “Quit Tamil Nadu” against the Governor for his latest remarks that Thamizhagam would be a more appropriate name for Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n DMK MP TR Balu had earlier slammed Ravi for his state renaming suggestion and said he should stop acting as a second state president of BJP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The legislators also asked the Governor not to impose BJP and RSS ideology in the state. They said This is not Nagaland, this is proud Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The state is currently experiencing a political battle between the DMK government at the helm and the Raj Bhavan over several bills that are pending with the Governor, including one that would outlaw online gambling and bet-based online games of chance like Rummy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
