The Delhi Police has accused former union minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in the death case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar under section 336, abetment to suicide, and section 498 A, cruelty in a marriage.<\/p>\n
The police filed the chargesheet on Monday. Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Hotel Leela Palace in Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave in the capital in January 2014.<\/p>\n
Initially police suspected that she might have committed suicide while the possibility of medicine overdose was also not ruled out. She was undergoing medical treatment at the time of her death.<\/p>\n
Special Investigation Team (SIT) told the Supreme Court last month that a draft final report had been prepared after conducting \u201cthorough professional and scientific investigations\u201d in the case.<\/p>\n
The SIT stated in the apex court that after conducting thorough professional and scientific investigations has prepared a draft police report under section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code and sent the same to the prosecution department of Delhi Government for \u201clegal scrutiny\u201d and would be filed in the concerned court after being vetted.<\/p>\n

Romil Baaniya, the DCP filed the affidavit saying, \u201cAs soon as the draft police report is received after legal vetting by the prosecution department, the same shall be submitted before the competent trial court for consideration and concomitant judicial proceedings.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to normal legal process, in cases where section 498A is imposed, the accused is immediately placed under arrest.\u00a0 However, Shashi Tharoor has not been arrested as he has been cooperating with investigation authorities by making himself present as and when needed.
