A young woman was reportedly murdered by her own family, who then burned her body to a crisp in a bid to destroy evidence in Nanded district of Maharashtra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports said the 22-year-old victim, who has not been named, was strangled to death with a rope by her own brother and father along with three other male relatives on January 22 in in Pimpri Mahipal village under Limbgaon police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police officials said the accused then torched her corpse and dumped the remains in a stream to destroy any evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victim, a third-year medical student of Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery, was engaged to be married by a man of her family\u2019s choosing. However, she was in love with another man from her village and informed of the same to her betrothed, who then called off the wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The irate family members who were upset after the wedding was called off, took her to a farm on the night of January 22, where they murdered her and torched her body to destroy evidence, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Read Also<\/strong>: Rahul Gandhi\u2019s Bharat Jodo Yatra called off over security lapse in Kashmir, Congress alleges sudden withdrawal of security<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The five accused which includes the victim\u2019s father, brother, uncle and cousins have been arrested under section 302 (murder) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a similar incident, a man in Uttar Pradesh\u2019s Hussainganj was arrested for allegedly murdering his 3-year-old boy and then burying the body in a nearby farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Police said the accused, identified as Chandra Kishore Lodhi, a resident of Chitisapur village under Hussainganj police station, killed his son with a spade after an argument with his wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lodhi, the police said, had an argument with his wife Wednesday night and then in a fit of rage, attacked his toddler son, Raj, with a spade, instantly killing him.
