The government of Bihar on Monday banned 23 social networking sites and messaging applications till 11 pm on February 8 in Bihar’s Saran district to maintain peace and tranquility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move came after a youth was lynched by a group of people after an altercation with the staff of the poultry farm on Thursday. Soon after tensions prevailed in the district and people came out on the streets to take revenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To stop the matter escalate further, the Bihar government banned 23 sites. Those are Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, QQ, WeChat, QZone, Tumblr, Google+, Baidu, Skype, Viber, Line, Snapchat, Pinterest, Telegram, Reddit, Snaptish, YouTube, Vine, Xanga, Buaanet, Flickr and other social media sites meant for mass messaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Saran district government imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) on Sunday to prevent unlawful gatherings and rallies at the Manjhi block of the city, police officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the order, the decision was taken as per the available inputs, and as reported by the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police Saran. The order further stated that it is reasonably apprehended that some anti-social clement in Saran District may use the internet to transmit objectionable content in order to spread rumour and disaffection amongst the public at large with a view to incite them to commit various offenses against communal harmony, cause damage to life and property, and disturb peace and tranquility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, a youth was allegedly beaten to death after an argument with the staff of the poultry farm at Manjhi in Bihar\u2019s Chhapra district. The police arrested one of the staff, Jatin Yadav, who alleged that four people came to his poultry farm and tried to take away the chicken forcibly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Locals erupted in anger at Mubarakpur village in the Manjhi police station area of Saran district. According to authorities, the protesters alleged that the village headman and his henchmen attacked three youngsters in a terrible manner, killing one and critically injuring the other two.
