In a major development in aviation, the Tata Group on Tuesday made a historic deal with Airbus and bought 250 planes from the aircraft manufacturer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports said Air India will buy 40 wide-body A350 aircraft and 210 narrow-body aircraft. The announcement was made during a virtual event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, and other dignitaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the virtual meeting, Chandrasekaran announced that a letter of intent has been signed with Airbus for the acquisition of the aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further said Air India has built a good relationship with Airbus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the virtual meeting and said the deal reflects the deepening ties between India and France as well as the successes and aspirations of India’s Civil Aviation sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PM Modi further said through the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN), remote areas of the country are being connected through air connectivity which is boosting the economic and social development of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
France Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron said the Air India-Airbus partnership is an example that the French aerospace company and its partners are dedicated to developing new areas of cooperation with India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Further, Macron urged the people of India to visit France and said the end of the pandemic should bring more exchange between the two countries. He also encouraged students, scientists, businessmen, women, tourists, and artists to become a part of the French Indian friendship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the announcement, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak hailed a multi-billion-pound deal by Airbus and Rolls-Royce to supply new planes to Air India and called it a landmark moment for India’s aerospace sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sunak further said the pact will generate highly skilled jobs in Wales and Derbyshire, eastern England, which will boost exports and the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
