Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said there is no question of an apology from Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in the UK and that those demanding so must answer Prime Minister Narendra Modi “humiliating” the people of the country with his comments abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Talking to reporters in national capital New Delhi, Kharge said he seeks answers from people demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi, about PM Modi \u201chumiliating\u201d the people of India who said that \u201cbeing born in India is a sin.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Congress president claimed that democracy in the country was \u201cdiminishing\u201d, freedom of expression and speech is being throttled and TV news outlets are being pressured while \u201cpeople speaking the truth are being jailed\u201d \u2026 \u201cso if this is not the process of ending democracy then what is?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kharge added that there\u2019s no question of an apology from the Congress scion over his comments made during a recent speech in London in which he alleged that the structures of Indian democracy are under \u201cbrutal attack\u201d and there is a full-scale assault on the institutions of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the media after the commotion in the Parliament, Kharge claimed that there\u2019s no place for democracy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s rule and rule is law is absent while central agencies are being \u201cmisused.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kharge accused the ruling BJP of running the country \u201clike a dictatorship\u201d where dissent is muffled, while they trumpet about patriotism and respect\u2026 \u201cand then they talk about democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
