{"id":463450,"date":"2023-04-08T11:42:45","date_gmt":"2023-04-08T06:12:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=463450"},"modified":"2023-04-08T11:44:28","modified_gmt":"2023-04-08T06:14:28","slug":"kailash-vijayvargiya-shurpanakha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/kailash-vijayvargiya-shurpanakha\/","title":{"rendered":"Girls in vulgar dresses are like Shurpanakha, says BJP&#8217;s Kailash Vijayvargiya | WATCH"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, who is no stranger to making controversial statements, courted yet another row on Thursday with his latest remarks saying that girls who are dressed \u201cvulgarly\u201d look like Shurpanakha\u2014 the evil sister of Ravana, the villain from Hindu epic Ramayana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at a religious ceremony in Madhya Pradesh\u2019s Indore to mark the Mahavir and Hanuman Jayanti, the senior BJP leader said Indians thinks of women as goddesses but the girl\u2019s who wear \u201csuch bad clothes\u201d don\u2019t look like Devi (goddess), but resemble the demoness Shurpanakha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vijayvargiya also urged women to respect their body by wearing \u201cnice clothes\u201d and also advised parents to teach children such values. It shows their thinking and their attitude. BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya ji calling women as Shurpankha and making objectionable comments on their dress is appropriate in independent India. Apologize BJP!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vijayvargiya is no stranger to making controversial statements as just last month he sparked a controversy by saying that India became a \u201cHindu Rashtra\u201d or Hindu nation after the country\u2019s partition which he said was done along religious lines and led to the formation of Pakistan in 1947.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vijayvargiya had said that India was partitioned on religious lines after the independence, Pakistan was formed and what remained of the country is a \u2018Hindu Rashtra.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The senior politician who is also a former state cabinet minister, was criticized for his remarks on Agniveers in June last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BJP leader had reportedly said that he would give priority to Agnipath recruits for security jobs at his BJP office but retracted his comments later by issuing a clarification later, saying he only meant that the excellence of Agniveers will be utilised in whichever field they choose after completing service in the defence forces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, who is no stranger to making controversial statements, courted yet another row on Thursday with his latest remarks saying that girls who are dressed \u201cvulgarly\u201d look like Shurpanakha\u2014 the evil sister of Ravana, the villain from Hindu epic Ramayana.
