In an attempt to curb the violence and restore peace in the city the district administration has imposed curfew in Odisha\u2019s Sambalpur after violence erupted that lead to death of a man during the Hanuman Jayanti celebration last evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Friday evening, the residents of Sambalpur observed Hanuman Jayanti taking out processions amid tight security, when violence erupted late in the night that resulted to the death of a man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officials of the district administration have enforced Section- 144 across Sambalpur town with immediate effect until further orders. The sub-collector of the division notified declaring about section 144 of CrPc with immediate effect until further orders and the notification has also allowed people to step out for buying of essential items within dedicated time slot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The timings for buying essential items are between 8:00 am to 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The District Collector Ananya Das said, all educational institutions, business establishments and office including both government and private were to remain closed and appealed the people to cooperate with them to ensure early restoration of peace and switch back to normalcy in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Friday violence created a situation where several shops were set ablaze during the Hanuman Jayanti rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The violence has been going on and off in Sambalpur since the start of this week as earlier on Wednesday a communal clash took place during a motorbike rally that left at least 10 policemen injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Post the violence the internet services were shutdown for 48 hours by the Odisha government and the police arrested 32 people involved in the Wednesday clash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
