In a shocking incident, the body of a 10-year-old girl was found semi-naked in the backyard of her house in a village of Latehar district in Jharkhand, police said on Saturday, adding that the minor may be have been gang-raped before she was murdered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police, the minor girl was found murdered, semi-nude, after suspected gangrape in her house\u2019s backyard in a village near Chandwa in Latehar district on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A senior official said that preliminary investigations suggest that the girl may have been the victim of a violent sexual assault before being murdered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chandwa police inspector Amit Gupta said the police have registered a case on the basis of the victim\u2019s parents and started an investigation to identify and arrest the accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Giving details, the officer said the deceased girl, a Class 4 student, was last seen at a neighbour\u2019s house on Friday evening where locals had gathered after a snake was spotted there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that as per the complaint filed by the girl\u2019s parents, they and other family members of the victim started searching for her after she didn\u2019t come home in the evening, but could not find her anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The inspector said the minor girl was found murdered, semi-naked, in the backyard of her house on Saturday morning with injury marks on her body, suggesting sexual assault. Prime facie, it appears that the minor victim was gangraped and then murdered by a gang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the victim\u2019s body has been sent for post-mortem at Latehar Sadar Hospital to ascertain the cause of death and confirm if the girl was raped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, a report quoting a doctor on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the girl was indeed gangraped before being killed, however, an official report is yet to be submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
