Hours after the Supreme Court paused an investigation against Trinamool Congress MP and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee for alleged corruption in recruiting teachers, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned him tomorrow for questioning in the cattle-smuggling case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court stayed the Calcutta High Court’s April 13 order and directed to not carry out further investigations against Banerjee in the West Bengal teacher’s recruitment scam case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has been asked to appear at CBI’s Nizam Palace office on Tuesday, April 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The summons issued by the CBI to Mr. Banerjee is likely to worsen already-intense tensions between the opposition parties and the BJP-led government in the centre over allegations that these agencies were used unfairly to target them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, PM Modi at a CBI event told the agency not to spare anyone in fighting corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before reports circulated that the CBI had summoned her nephew today, Mamata Banerjee claimed that the government always sends the CBI and other agencies whenever the opposition parties discuss working together for the national election of 2024.
