In another airline-related incident, the Srinagar-bound SpiceJet flight returned to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport after the company received a false fire warning in the cockpit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The airline in a statement said On April 18, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-8373 (Delhi-Srinagar) returned to Delhi as the AFT cargo fire light illuminated in the cockpit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soon after, the full emergency was declared for the Delhi-Srinagar flight carrying 140 passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement further read, Full emergency was declared at 10:40 am on Tuesday for SpiceJet’s Delhi-Srinagar flight SG 8373. The flight landed back at IGI Airport safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SpiceJet reported that the light was later\u00a0extinguished by the captain’s efforts and that, prior to landing, all operational metrics had been seen to be within normal limits. The airline further said, subsequently, upon opening of AFT cargo no sign of fire or smoke was found, and based on initial assessment, the warning was observed to be false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were more than 200 people onboard. An alternate aircraft was provided for the passengers to be flown to Bagdogra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
