A bear died after it fell into a well near Vellanad in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident took place on Wednesday night and the bear was spotted by the house owner in the morning after he heard a strange noise coming out from the open well. A joint rescue operation was launched by the forest, police, fire, and veterinary departments which continued for around 1.5 hours, reports said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the rescue team couldn’t save the animal after it drowned after being tranquilised during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first dart of the tranquilliser didn’t hit the bear, it was only on the second attempt that the bear could be tranquillised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, the plan went south when the bear was unconscious and started drowning. Another team of rescue operations pumped out the water from the well to keep the animal alive and came out with it after an hour. But, the bear passed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reports said the bear was looking for two hens and had already caught them before it fell into the well. He was trying to prey on a third hen when the incident took place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
