A man in Khatra area of West Bengal’s Bankura district was conned of Rs 33 lakh by his neighbor who posed as a CBI officer and took the money from the victim on the pretext of providing him a job in the Indian Railways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per reports, the accused, identified as 30-year-old Subhajit Barui, allegedly embezzled Rs 33 lakh from his neigbour, Dilip Kumar Mondal, while posing as an officer of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and promising the victim that he would help him get a job in the Indian Railways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A senior police official said that Mondal, who works as a school teacher, came in touch with Subhajit Barui in early 2022 and soon the accused, who introduced himself as a CBI officer and furnished fake Ids as proof, starting boasting of having connections in high places and convinced the victim that can he can help him get Mondal\u2019s son a job in the Indian Railways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per a complaint by Mondal\u2019s wife, Kavita, Barui continued to dupe her husband for the past two years and by the end of 2022, had taken Rs 11 lakh from him but did not provide any employment letter for their son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Read Also<\/strong>: Mumbai: GST official absconds with Rs 25 lakh bribe money from gold dealer, CBI registers case<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n A report quoting a senior police official said that Kavita had filed a complaint at the Khatra Police Station in 2022, based on which a case was registered against Barui, adding that the accused was arrested on Thursday and later a local court remanded him to five days in police custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kavita Mondal claimed that Barui had embezzled a total of Rs 33 lakh from the family over the years and had given them an appointment letter last year, claiming that their son had been employed for a Group C job in the Indian Railways, following which the family paid him Rs 25 lakhs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, when the young man reached Bihar with the fake appointment letter, he was shocked to know it was fake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On being confronted by the family, Barui threatened to file a case against Dilip Mondal in Sonarpur, Kavita claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n NGT slaps Rs 4,000 crore fine on Bihar for failure to manage solid, liquid waste<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
