{"id":474756,"date":"2023-06-06T11:47:25","date_gmt":"2023-06-06T06:17:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=474756"},"modified":"2023-06-06T11:47:33","modified_gmt":"2023-06-06T06:17:33","slug":"golden-temple-operation-blue-star-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/golden-temple-operation-blue-star-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"Security beefed up at Golden Temple on Operation Blue Star\u2019s 39th anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On the occasion of the 39<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Operation Blue Star, the security has been beefed up at the Golden Temple and all across Amritsar city as preventive measure for any unwanted situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DCP Law and Order Parminder Singh Bhandal said security forces in uniform as well as in civil has also been deployed across the city and inside the temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bhandal said the decision is taken to prevent any kind of disturbance in the law and order situation in the city adding that large number of police personnel have been posted at different locations in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier Additional DGP Arpit Shukla had appealed people to maintain peace in Punjab and strict action will be taken against those involving in spreading rumours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prayers at the Gurdwara is going as per the usual course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On June 6, 1984, the Indian Army entered into the Golden Temple to remove Jarnail Singh Bhindarwale and his followers who had sought inside the Golden Temple complex, the news spread that Bhindarwale had hidden huge amount of arms and ammunitions inside the complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operation Blue Star was the codename of the military operation of the Indian Army, which was ordered by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports say, hundreds of civiilians including soldiers lost their lives in this operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Months later on October 31, 1984, Gandhi was assassinated at her official residence in Delhi by two of her personal Sikh bodyguards, who fired around 30 bullets on her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in the day, protestors were seen raising pro-Khalistan slogans with Bhindarwale\u2019s posters at the Golden Temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WATCH?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WATCH<\/a> | On the 39th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, Bhindranwale posters and pro-Khalistan slogans raised at the Golden Temple in Punjab&#39;s Amritsar <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VapwQgyCWe\">pic.twitter.com\/VapwQgyCWe<\/a><\/p>&mdash;
