Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has sparked a row after his remarks alleging India to have threatened to shut down the company during the farmers protest in 2020-2021 and was asked to censor certain accounts, which were critical of the government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Twitter head during an ongoing interview on Breaking Points (an YouTube channel) on Monday, on a question of whether to have ever received any pressure from any foreign government replied citing the example of India, that he had received many request during the farmers protests, to put a censor on accounts and also on journalists who reported the protests and were critical of the government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dorsey further added, they were also threatened that if the requests were not fulfilled, Twitter would be shut down in India and homes of their employees would be raided in the country, which was later done, he also claimed, they were asked to follow the suit else were threatened to close their offices in India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former CEO further mocking India’s democracy said, still with all of this the country calls itself a democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar rebutted the comment of the micro-blogging platform’s Co-founder terming it as an outright lie and an attempt to clean-up the company’s hesitant history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
