The Delhi Police is likely to lodge a chargesheet on Thursday concerning sexual harassment allegation made by women wrestlers against the Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier on June 7, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur met wrestler Bajrang Punia and Sakshee Malik and ascertained that a chargesheet in the case would be lodged by June 15. Following the assurance by the Union Sports Minister, the wrestlers suspended their protest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As far as reports are concerned, the Delhi Police have written to wrestling federation of five countries seeking information about the alleged sexual harassment incidents involving WFI Chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. However, the wrestling federations have not responded yet. The Delhi Police will file a supplementary chargesheet once the wrestling federation responds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports claim that the investigation team sent notices to wrestling federations in five countries, asking them to produce photos, videos, and CCTV footage of the tournaments and places where wrestlers stayed during the matches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Friday, the Delhi Police took a female wrestler to the office of the wrestling body chief, as a part of their probe into the allegations of sexual harassment against him. According to reports, the wrestler was accompanied by a team of women police officers. The wrestler arrived at the WFI office at 1:30 pm. The wrestler and the probe team spent half an hour at the WFI office. During the time, the wrestler was asked to recreate the scene of the alleged harassment and recall the places where she felt harassed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a part of the ongoing investigation into the allegation made by the women wrestlers, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has interrogated over 180 people and registered two FIRs against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
