Four people reportedly attempted suicide inside a courtroom of the Gujarat High Court by drinking phenyl on Thursday. They were upset over an anticipatory bail granted to a person who is accused in a cheating case lodged by them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The four people namely Jayshree Panchal, her husband Shailesh Panchal, Hardik Patel and Manoj Vaishnav were hurried to a nearby hospital following the incident. The hospital authorities stated that the four people were \u201cout of danger\u201d. On January 13, Jayshree Panchal along with her husband and other two people had registered complaints of forgery, cheating and criminal breach of trust against loan consultant Chintan Shah, Colour Mercantile Cooperative Bank\u2019s general manager Kinnar Shah and manager Atul Shah at Anandnagar police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports claim that the four people approached the banks for loans, which were duly sanctioned. However, the accused allegedly siphoned off the disbursed amount of around Rs 1.6 crore by forging documents, as per the complaints. At present, Shah had approached the Gujarat High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the concerned case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday afternoon, as soon as Justice Nirzar Desai passed the order granting pre-arrest bail to Shah, complainant Jayshree who was present in the courtroom during the hearing, shouted in an effort to protest against the court\u2019s decision. Consequently, she took out a bottle of phenyl and started drinking the liquid. The other complainants followed her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reportedly, police personnel hurried into the courtroom and tried to stop them. Amidst this ruckus, the judge, Justice Nirzar Desai left the courtroom. The aforementioned incident was captured on camera as the court proceedings were being live-streamed. President of Gujarat High Court Advocates Association, Advocate Prithvirajsinh Jadeja noted that a 108 ambulance remains parked in the high court campus for emergencies.
