It can be done in a group or can be self-taught. It is unifying and one for all ethnicities, and cultures. People from more than 180 countries have joined PM Modi for the Yoga Day programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposal of International Yoga Day was introduced by PM Modi during his 2014 address to the United Nations General Assembly which was accepted on December 21, 2014 and was first observed on June 21, 2015. Since then, Yoga has gained huge popularity worldwide due to its ability to enhance flexibility, strength, balance, and overall fitness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year the theme of Yoga Day is Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which means yoga for the welfare of all in the form of One World, One Family. It symbolises the spirit of Yoga, which unites the people around the world and takes them along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prime Minister is presently on his maiden State visit to the United States who landed last night(as per the IST). Earlier in the day, he held a series of meetings with leaders from different industry.
