In connection with its investigation into an alleged extortion attempt by the former zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is planning to record the statements of actor Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan, according to agency officials familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the officials said, we will shortly record the statements of Shah Rukh Khan, who was told to pay 25 crore by the accused Kiran Gosavi, and Aryan Khan, who was detained by NCB at Wankhede’s order. In order to know what they planned, it is important to record their statements, the official added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wankhede has already been partially examined by the agency, but they are still awaiting permission from the court to formally question him thoroughly, the source continued. Wankhede has been given temporary protection from arrest till June 23 by the Bombay High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The raid on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai in October 2021 and the arrest of Aryan Khan\u2014despite the fact that no drugs were found on him\u2014are related to the extortion attempt. After Aryan spent 25 days in jail, he was eventually released on bail. The investigation was clearly flawed at the time, despite NCB’s efforts to depict Aryan Khan as a dealer with connections abroad. The FIR claimed, a plot was planned to demand 25 crore from Khan’s family in exchange for not framing his son, and that the amount was later reduced to 18 crore. This claim was based on a vigilance investigation report by a special inquiry team (SET) led by NCB’s deputy director general (DDG), Gyaneshwar Singh. Gosavi took a symbolic payment of Rs. 50 lakh, albeit some of it was later refunded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
