Although the monsoon started slow this year, it did make swift progress in very less time and reached most parts of the country. Starting from southern states where it hits first every year like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, it is now present in other parts of the country like Maharashtra, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, north-eastern parts of India, West Bengal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even though the southwest monsoon brought a sigh of relief from the severe heatwaves which the country has been facing for the last many days, it also hit many states hard, and incessant rains are now causing floods. One of the worst-hit states this year is Himachal Pradesh. The state has been receiving incessant rains which lead to flash floods along with landslides in many parts of the state, affecting both locals and tourists and leaving them stranded. Among the worst districts of the state are Solan, Hamirpur district, Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Mandi over 3 people died and around 200 people were stuck after a flash flood hit the Bagipul area of the district. Sanjeev Sood, who is the current DSP of Mandi District Police informed that a flash flood has hit the Bagipul area, which is near Prashar Lake in Mandi district, and that near Baggi Bridge on Mandi Prashar Road, 200 people including tourists and locals stand stranded.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked about steps taken by the administration to handle this natural calamity, DSP Sood replied that people are being instructed to migrate to safer places and stuck people were evacuated, also the road leading way to Parashar Lake was closed due to a flood after a cloudburst around Baggi bridge in Mandi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the State Emergency Operation Centre, the flood besides interrupting day-to-day life and flooding houses, washed away livestock and damaged crops, caused the state financial loss of an estimated 78 lakh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
