Delhi power consumers whose consumption of power is more than 200 units of electricity per month, will face increased charges as there is an 8% increase in the rise in the power purchase adjustment cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Atishi Singh slammed the central government of mismanagement stressing on the increasing cost of electricity in New Delhi. Talking to the media, she clarified that the increase in cost of electricity would not affect customers who consume 200 units or less than 200 units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Consumers who are eligible for subsidies will see an 8% increase in the PPAC surcharge included in their power bills. Atishi stated that the central government was responsible for this. This has forced the Delhi government for the import of coal which was ten times more costlier than domestic coal. There was no lack of coal mines or availability of coal in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As far as record are concerned, the PPAC is revised every three months and can fluctuate based on the prices of fuel, including coal and gas. Harish Khurana ,the head of the Delhi BJP said the reason behind the increase in the PPAC surcharge is due to alleged collision between the distribution companies and the AAP government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Khurana added the AAP government was shamelessly claiming that the PPAC increases in the summer and decreases in the winter. He said the PPAC has been hiked from 16% to 22% last year and it has again been hiked. The people of Delhi get free electricity upto 200 units and 50% subsidy for those who consume 201-400 units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Atishi added there was an artificial shortage of coal in the country for the first time in the last 70 years which caused the increase in the prices. Atishi added that the centre has forced coal buyers to buy imported coal which is ten times costlier than Indian coal. Domestic coal is priced at Rs 200 per tone whereas the imported coal is priced at Rs 25000 per tone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
